My Little Two-Twos

Marin and Silje turned 2 on Monday. We had their party on Sunday with family and a few friends. They had a ladybug cake and wore their two-twos -- I mean tu-tus, boas, and ladybug antenae. This year they enjoyed opening their presents and singing along with "Happy Birthday".

Silje's Chocolate Unibrow

Silje enjoyed her first taste of chocolate pudding the other day. She did start with her spoon. But she soon tossed the spoon aside and licked out the rest of it ..... thus applying her chocolate unibrow.


I do enjoy adding to the future blackmail portfolio.

Ailey's Encyclopedia

Ailey has always loved books. When she was still in her crib she would go to bed with books instead of stuffed animals. If I wanted to sleep in one morning I would sneak in her room at night and put books in her bed after she fell asleep so that she would wake up and entertain herself reading for a while and let me sleep.

She rarely bent, tore or sucked on books either. I can think of one book that she chewed the corner of and a few that I had to tape up after she tried to turn a page too quickly.

Marin and Silje aren't very nice to books, which is why they have lots of stuffed animals in their beds instead of books. And why most of their books are missing the spine and have tape all over them.

Ailey always goes to bed with books and reads herself to sleep. And she often falls asleep in weird positions or places. (Remember this?)

The other night I found her sleeping under her new Encyclopedia. She has her favorite pages tabbed. I think she fell asleep under the penguins. :)

"I Want Cookie!"

Silje is working on improving her tantrum tactics. She's trying hard not to collapse to the floor, writhing and crying and screaming. Instead she's working on "using her words" ..... and her foot.

And so no one thinks I'm depriving my child in any way, Silje did get her cookie ..... after dinner.

Mom and Daughter

Since Ailey was a baby I've thought that she looked like a good combination of me and Andy. She looked a lot like me at times, but she had all Andy's coloring.

Marin is all Higgins so far. In the first weeks, Grandma Sue said that Marin reminded her of Andy's Grandpa Charlie ..... only cuter, of course.

Silje seems to be all Johnson right now. While I know these things will change as they grow older, I'm getting more and more comments about how much Silje looks like me.

I'll take it now, because, having experience with her end of the comparison and being told all my life how much I look like my mom, I know that in a few years Silje isn't going to much appreciate the comparison! (Sorry Mom. But I don't cringe anymore when people tell me I look like you!)
