We've been taking very good care of them indoors hoping to find a nice day to head outdoors and plant them. "Nice" is apparently relative around here. Today we decided they would get planted even if we got soaked in the process. And soaked we got.
It has been raining for about a week. Pretty much non-stop. No one around here is very happy about it. It hasn't been warm even. 50 degrees and raining. Not much of a way to welcome in summer. But, boy, is it ever green.
Even with their raincoats and boots the girls came in soaking wet after a couple of hours outside. (Something about putting their heads under the run-off....)
There was plenty of water coming out of the downspouts and much of it got transfered to a bucket via plastic shovel, thanks to Silje and Marin.
On our way out to dinner this evening, however, the sun came out. First time I've seen it in a few days. And it warmed up into the 60s. I say, if we're going to have a soggy Memorial Weekend, at least it ended with signs of summer!~ Happy Memorial Day ~
Several months ago I got talking to another "preschool mom" and discovered our shared Norwegian heritage. She got the idea to have Ailey wear her old bunad to the parade in Ballard in May. Then a few weeks ago she said that her son, Anders, wanted to walk in the parade this year and invited Ailey to walk with them in her bunad.
Thus the trip down to Ballard yesterday evening for the parade.
Marin and Silje enjoyed most of the parade - including the many middle-school and high-school marching bands, but minus the scary, smoke breathing dragon and the sirens on the old fire engines. It was quite the show!
